State Senate Seat 56 Race Heating
Up:
Sadiq for Senate Signs Stolen Throughout District
Akhtar Sadiq,
Democratic Candidate for State Senate District 56, has been the victim of
theft. Sadiq's large political signs, secured by wooden posts, have been
stolen off of private property throughout the district.
"I suppose we should take it as a compliment that my opponent is feeling
nervous; however, people are tired of the same old, dirty politics" said
Sadiq. He went on to say, "It is unbelievable that some folks are
brazen enough to go onto private property and destroy something that does not
belong to them. It does not speak well of my opponent's
supporters."
Sadiq says, "I am running for State Senate because I have the skills and
experience necessary to strengthen our local community and a proven track
record of working successfully with Democrats and Republicans – something we
haven't seen from Dan Moody."
Sadiq earned 49% of all votes cast in State Senate District 56 on July 15,
2008, which shows the district is in play this fall. Sadiq and his
wife have two children both of whom are married and run their own successful
businesses.
American Hero former United States Senator Max Cleland, State Senator Curt
Thompson and DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown have endorsed Sadiq.
In 2006, the Georgia Secretary of State Cathy Cox honored Sadiq with the
Outstanding Leadership in the Community award as well as the Outstanding
Georgia Citizen award. Currently, Sadiq serves as the Treasurer on the
Board of Directors for the U.S. Navy League and is an Honorary Commander for
the Department of Defense.
